Video: Far Leftist Noam Chomsky's Moment of Clarity Regarding Hugo Chavez

Great find by Verum Serum here. Far leftist Noam Chomsky sang the praises of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez back in 2007 for, among other things, calling George W. Bush a 'devil.' Chomsky also bemoaned the notion that Chavez was considered a 'tin pot dictator.' This first clip is Chomsky in 2007 where he derided George W. Bush and defended Chavez on things like Venezuela's 'social programs.' It's quite obvious in listening to Chomsky here that he was having an 'enemy of my enemy is my friend moment.' His hatred for Bush was such that if someone like Chavez hated Bush too, defending Chavez was noble, using leftwing logic.

The admiration Chomsky shared for Chavez in 2007 was obviously mutual. Here is Chavez holding up one of Chomsky's books at the U.N. General Assembly:



Now this. Chomsky is throwing Chavez under the bus. Via The Guardian:

Speaking to the Observer last week, Chomsky has accused the socialist leader of amassing too much power and of making an "assault" on Venezuela's democracy.

"Concentration of executive power, unless it's very temporary and for specific circumstances, such as fighting world war two, is an assault on democracy. You can debate whether [Venezuela's] circumstances require it: internal circumstances and the external threat of attack, that's a legitimate debate. But my own judgment in that debate is that it does not."

Though there is a temptation to gloat from those of us on the right, we should congratulate Chomsky on this 'ah-ha' moment. There needs to be far more of this and we must admit that, at some level, this admission on the part of Chomsky is an admission that he was wrong.

Yes, it's late but it's also welcome news.

'Arab Spring' Update: Egyptian Gas Pipeline to Israel Bombed

...and the Liberal media just keeps on truckin'. As the Muslim Brotherhood and its willing accomplices continue to seize power in Egypt, bad things continue to happen. There was Lara Logan's sexual assault at Tahrir Square; Coptic Christians continue to be persecuted, tortured, and killed. Now, we're seeing an increase in gas pipeline blasts. For some reason, the mainstream media continues trumpeting the Islamist uprisings as Democracy in Action. At some point, even they will have to admit that Mubarak was nowhere near as bad as what Obama's media minions helped to usher in.

Masked assailants blew up the Egyptian pipeline that carries gas to Israel and Jordan early on Monday, starting a fire that burned for hours and disrupting the flow of the gas, security officials said.

The blast was the third to hit the strategic pipeline since an uprising overthrew Egypt's longtime leader Hosni Mubarak in February.

No one claimed responsibility for the explosion but disgruntled Bedouin tribesmen in the area have been blamed for attacking the pipeline in the past. Islamists opposed to Egypt's 1979 peace treaty with Israel have also been suspected.

Is it me or does it look like they're describing the Muslim Brotherhood perfectly while refusing to acknowledge that's who they're describing.

The security officials said the attackers, armed with assault rifles, arrived in two pickup trucks without number plates and forced the three security guards on duty to leave before placing the explosives and shooting the pipeline's valves to release the gas.

The explosion triggered a blaze that took firefighters at least seven hours to extinguish, they said.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration, along with his media minions, continues to support a repeat of what happened in Egypt - in Libya.

Video: Showdown between NJ Governor and Senate President

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie must be doing something right because the Senate president, Democrat Stephen Sweeney came unglued over the Governor's budget cuts. In New Jersey, the Governor has the right to line-item vetoes and Christie apparently used that pen in a major way. The contention between Republicans and Democrats started when Christie wanted everyone to work on one budget (his) but the Democrats wanted to submit their own. It went downhill for the Democrats from there. NJ.com posted an article on the exchange and the liberal bias is obvious as the writer refers to Republicans who support Christie as 'bobbleheads.'

Senate President Stephen Sweeney went to bed furious Thursday night after reviewing the governor’s line-item veto of the state budget.

He woke up Friday morning even angrier.

"This is all about him being a bully and a punk," he said in an interview Friday.
"I wanted to punch him in his head."

Sweeney had just risked his political neck to support the governor’s pension and health reform, and his reward was a slap across the face. The governor’s budget was a brusque rejection of every Democratic move, and Sweeney couldn’t even get an audience with the governor to discuss it.

"You know who he reminds me of?" Sweeney says. "Mr. Potter from ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ the mean old bastard who screws everybody."

Sweeney continued using macabre metaphors:

"Listen, you can punch me in the face and knock me down, do what you want," Sweeney says. "But don’t be vindictive and punish innocent people. These people didn’t do anything to him. It’s like a bank robber taking hostages. And now he’s starting to shoot people.

"I liken it to being spoiled. He was angry because he wanted a mutual budget. But do you hurt people because of that? Do you take $8 million in AIDS funding away? Legal services is drowning as it is, and you take away another $5 million? I’m just so angry that he hurt people like this to prove a point. He is a cruel man."
